Welcome back to school! I write to share some of our opening day information. The first day of school for all high school students will be Wednesday, September 4, 2024, and it will be an "A" day. On Wednesday, August 28, ALL high school students are invited to school for the Walk Your Schedule Night from 4:00–6:00 p.m. This will be an opportunity for students to practice the meeting pattern for an "A" day, to receive any assistance needed in getting oriented to our schedule, and to receive assistance in receiving their individualized schedules.
Please contact your child's counselor if there are schedule errors or if there are schedule conflicts that need resolution. Please wait until one schedule cycle has been completed (8 school days) before you contact a counselor with a schedule preference request.
Please find linked below these pieces of important information:
Also linked in this letter are the agreements and permissions that we ask you and your child to complete before the start of the school year, including the Code of Conduct Agreement, the Responsible Use Policy (required for students to receive their laptops), and permissions to release student information.
I am delighted to introduce additions to our faculty! Jennifer Nelson will join our English Department, Jeremy Brownstein will join our Science Department as a Living Environment teacher, and Jeffrey Mann will join our Science Department as a Physics teacher. Please join me in welcoming them to the Rhinebeck community!
We have several important events scheduled for the coming weeks: the Rhinebeck High School Open House will take place on Tuesday, October 1, beginning at 6:30 p.m. In addition, the Andy Bennett Tournament will take place on October 4. Please join us!
If you have any questions or problems using SchoolTool, help can be found by clicking on the SchoolTool Parent Portal link under the “Families” tab on the school district web site’s main page (www.rhinebeckcsd.org). At Rhinebeck High School we are proud to offer a range of opportunities to our students.
We offer students Advanced Placement courses, classes in partnership with Dutchess Community College, and Project Lead the Way courses; we offer instrumental and vocal music, we offer a four year fine arts sequence, we have a cutting edge physical education curriculum, after school, we support an articulated interscholastic athletic program for young men and women at the modified, junior varsity, and varsity levels, and our district sponsors a range of co-curricular clubs. Part of our mission is to provide an excellent learning environment, prepare students to meet the challenges and opportunities of the future, and nurture every student’s generosity of spirit, passion for learning, and success.
We are also a small learning community. Our faculty and staff work hard to personalize the learning environment— our students are known as individuals, and as individual learners. Our faculty get to know their students in and outside the classroom, and it is another priority that every student is supported. As a result, we have excellent graduation rates and excellent college attendance rates. Within this small school environment, students feel safe to take intellectual risks and to push themselves.
Please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected] or at 871-5500 with any questions!
